It was a real honour when Anita Cormac, Executive Director of the Focus on Food Campaign invited members of the Nethercoats workshop team to demonstrate their culinary skills to the Princess Royal last week. The Cooking school is a unique facility entirely designed and built by Nethercoats and is located in the restored nineteenth-century mill complex at Dean Clough, Halifax. The Princess Royal chatted happily to the team whilst they cooked a menu of healthy food options including burgers, chicken curry, potato wedges and muffins.
The Cooking School has been set up to extend Focus on Food’s work and influence to a wider audience and is being run as a charitable enterprise. All profits from the school will be gifted to support and further the work of the Focus on Food campaign. Focus on Food provides free of charge cooking lessons for children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to learn culinary skills for later life.
